What is Into Motherhood?

Into Motherhood is a six- month journey through the final stages of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. It gives space to explore, practise, question, experience and integrate — alongside a small group of women moving through the same threshold.

What we explore will meet you where you’re at.

Pregnancy is the beginning of matrescence — the profound physical, emotional and psychological transition from maiden to mother.

Your body is changing. Your relationships are changing. Your sense of self is changing. Your brain goes through a huge shift, comparable to what happened in adolescence - but in a much shorter time.

Your whole brain adapts itself to who you are becoming socially, culturally and biologically: a mother! All of this to become fully attuned to your baby. And for each new pregnancy, each subsequent baby, this rewiring happens again.

How do you hold yourself through this? A million decisions to be made. So many options. How do you know what's right for YOU?

While there is an enormous amount of information about pregnancy and birth, and a tendency to focus all our attention on making space for baby, there is often very little space to actually experience and explore this transformation physically.

Into Motherhood brings exactly that. It is a safe container to hold you through this huge transition.

Through guided body practices, reflection and deep listening, you’ll have space to connect with yourself, your baby and the changes unfolding within you. You’ll find your own ways of coming home to your body.

Some weeks may be practical. Some may open a question you didn’t know you were carrying. And sometimes, what matters most will be having a place to simply breathe, be witnessed, and listen to yourself.

The aim isn’t to leave with all the answers.

It’s to develop a deeper relationship with your body, your innate knowing and your ability to meet whatever presents itself to you.

Birth becomes a threshold into the person you are becoming. The beginning of a whole new journey.

Who This Is For

Into Motherhood is for pregnant women who are due in December 2026 or January 2027, who want to move through pregnancy, birth and early motherhood with a small group alongside them.

The container is aimed at women who are willing to explore rather than be told, to listen inward, and to take an active role in their own transition into motherhood. It may not be for you if you’re looking for someone to show you the way.

You may be pregnant with your first baby, or you may already be a mother and know you want to navigate this threshold differently than last time.

THIS IS NOT FOR YOU IF…

you’re most comfortable following an established path, rather than questioning and exploring

you’re looking for a specific method or philosophy of birth, rather than space to discover what birth and motherhood mean for YOU

You feel uncomfortable being part of a group throughout your third trimester, birth and early motherhood. (If you’d still like to work with me, but would prefer individual support, you can work 1:1 with me instead.)

You become clearer about your choices, learn how to communicate them with confidence, explore different possibilities, and prepare your partner and birth team to support you.

You create a birth plan AND prepare for other scenarios beforehand, so that you can surrender into how the birth unfolds in the moment.

body awareness movement

In postpartum

From imagining what comes after birth to having consciously prepared for the reality of those first weeks.

You begin to build the support around you that you will need — from food and practical help to knowing when and how to ask for it — and develop tools to stay connected to yourself in the intensity of early motherhood.

quiet woman reflection

In motherhood

You have space to explore how motherhood is changing you, what you want to carry forward, what you want to leave behind, and how you want to shape this new chapter of your life.

A little about Manou

I’m Manou.

I come from a professional dance background and have spent the past 25 years working deeply with my body — through movement, dance, yoga and bodywork. What started as physical research (‘how I can move more freely, how can I express myself more fully?’) now extends into explorations of the imagination, projection, deep somatic work and psychedelic work. I’m always looking for ways to inhabit my body more deeply, training myself to be fully present with what is. Right here, right now.

I’m also a mother of four.

I gave birth to my first two daughters at home — my first in Belgium and my second in the Netherlands. Experiencing two different systems gave me a first peek at how our bodies are affected by our surroundings, especially when entering into altered states of consciousness (like the birthing state).

When I became pregnant with twins, I desperately wanted to give birth at home. I spent the first half of my pregnancy searching for someone who would support me in doing so, but didn’t find anyone.

Eventually, I had to change my approach. Instead of fighting the system from the outside, I learned to navigate my way through its protocols — and to find my own radicality within them.

It was hard. And it was lonely.

I had to advocate for myself, have difficult conversations with my care providers and make do with a medical system that felt very unfamiliar. I eventually gave birth to my identical twins in the hospital bath, with minimal intervention — something that had never been done there before.

That experience showed me something I hadn’t fully understood before: how intricate the birthing state is, and how easily you can lose your ground when you enter it without having prepared deeply for it.

It also showed me how lonely it can feel when your birth becomes medical — especially when it is medical from the beginning. I found many women who understood my predicament and really wanted to help, but nobody who could actually help me navigate my reality. I had to do it myself.

This is a huge part of why I created Into Motherhood.

I want women to have a place to prepare deeply, to ask the questions they need to ask, to understand their options, to find their voice and to build a circle around themselves before they enter the birth space.

Birth is unpredictable. You can’t know how it will unfold until you’re in it.

To me, this is exactly the reason to prepare very well. Not so you can control your outcome, but so that you’ve got a very solid trust in yourself to fall back on.

I see myself as a guide, not a coach. My role is not to tell you how to give birth or how to become a mother. I’m here to help you listen more deeply, ask better questions, trust what you know, and meet your own edges with greater clarity and connection.

Frequently asked questions

Who is Into Motherhood for?

Into Motherhood is for pregnant women who want to approach pregnancy, birth and the transition into motherhood consciously and from a place of curiosity, self-trust and embodied knowing. You can be a first-time mother or have given birth before.

When do I join?

You’ll join during your third trimester. The first cohort begins on 7 October 2026, with women due between December and January.

What if my birth doesn’t go according to plan?

Into Motherhood is not about preparing for one particular kind of birth. We’ll explore your wishes, your options and different possible scenarios so you can prepare clearly while staying open to what actually unfolds. Whatever your birth looks like, there is space to share, process and be supported.

Do I need to plan a natural or physiological birth to join?

No. You don’t need to have a particular birth philosophy or plan. What matters is that you’re curious about your own choices and willing to explore what feels right for you.

What if I’m giving birth in a hospital?

You are very welcome. Navigating the medical system is an important part of what we can explore together. You’ll have space to prepare for conversations with your care providers, understand your options and communicate what matters to you.

What if I want to have a freebirth?

You are also very welcome. Freebirthing in my opinion warrants even more preparation, so if this is something you’re considering, the container could really help you finetune the way you go about it.

What if I’m already very confident about my birth?

That’s absolutely fine. This isn’t about fixing something that is wrong. You may simply want deeper preparation, connection, community and space to explore who you are becoming.

What if I miss a weekly session?

All weekly sessions are recorded and available to everyone in the cohort, so you can catch up whenever you need to.

Can I get support before the cohort begins?

Yes. If you’d like individual support before 7 October, you can book a one-on-one session with me. This can be a good way to start exploring your questions and preparing for birth before the cohort begins.

Can I join if I live outside the Netherlands?

Yes. The core program is online, so you can join from anywhere. The main consideration is that the weekly gatherings take place on Wednesday evenings, Netherlands time.

Can I get individual support alongside the program?

Yes. Participants have the option to book one-on-one sessions with Manou at a special participant rate if they want additional individual support.

What if my due date is outside December 2026 or January 2027?

This first cohort is designed for women due in December 2026 or January 2027, so that we can move through pregnancy, birth and early motherhood alongside one another.

If your due date falls just outside this window but you feel strongly called to join, please get in touch. We can talk about where you are in your pregnancy and whether this cohort could still be a good fit for you.

How do I know if Into Motherhood is right for me?

If you’re not sure whether Into Motherhood is the right fit for you, you can book a 30-minute discovery call with me. We’ll talk about where you are, what you’re looking for and whether this feels like the right way for us to work together.

Not sure if it is for you?

You don’t have to figure that out on your own.

Book a 20-minute discovery call with me. We’ll talk about where you are in your pregnancy, what you’re looking for, and what kind of support feels right for you.

It’s a chance for us both to feel into whether working together through this transformational time is the right fit.

No pressure. Just a conversation.
